Badminton is one of the greatest sports in the
whole world. I am a player and also an enthusiast in badminton. I had lots of
experiences when it comes to badminton. From being a beginner and becoming a
hardworking player. To hard work and good times and then in bad times, I often
called gloomy days. But even so, I still played because badminton is the kind
of sport that you will be in love with. Badminton is my first love and will be
my darling forever.
Okay to get things started, I came across an
article about badminton http://topics.nytimes.com/topics/reference/timestopics/subjects/b/badminton/index.html.
It talks about badminton itself in the whole world. It talks about the
basic concepts of badminton. How it is played etc. Being compared to most
part of the countries especially in America and Asian countries.
I think that America thinks that badminton is
just a recreation not like basketball that has spirit. For me, I think it is
rude to think like that because badminton is not just a recreation but a deeper
sport. Badminton requires not just only skills but also hard work. It's not
just a recreation but a sport to be respected with. That is why Asian countries
like Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia and China loves badminton because they
respect the game and they give their best to play the game. That is also why
Asian countries kick Europe countries' ass in terms of playing badminton.
the game is played for only 15 points. Base on
the article, all matches are two of three games. In men’s singles and doubles
and in women’s doubles, the game is won by the player or side reaching 15
points. The game is 11 points in women's singles. But now, the scoring is a
rally point system up to 21 points and is won by reaching first 21 points.
Back then, scoring in badminton was hard because
the player that is serving is the one who gets the points and the one who is
defending will not get a point unless he serves for the game. In my opinion,
The World Badminton Federation did a great decision and change to the sport for
the better. They came up with a rally system were each player can score points
if they kill the shuttlecock to the their enemy. That is why I love the game.
The thrill of getting a point to your enemy is very exciting. The fact that me
and my teammates work and train hard to be better players for our team makes me
feel great. Getting stronger gives us pleasure. That is why we believe in the
magic of badminton and we respect the sport VERY much. :)
Checked!
